Hi, I’m Bryce McNabb
When it comes to brand storytelling, I’m a teacher, advisor, and award-winning practitioner.
As the Storytelligent name implies, I’m one part creative, one part strategy. My gift is bridging those two halves together. Whether that’s translating business goals into a rewarding emotional experience, or uniting business leaders and their creative teams.
When I’m not out teaching, I’m behind the camera putting my clients in the spotlight. As Director of McNabb Storytelling, an Emmy-nominated brand storytelling agency, I practice what I preach. I partner with a select few clients each year bringing their story to life through documentary-style brand films.
I’m also a proud husband, father, and story nerd who sees the world through movies.
My favorites that I often reference are Inception, The Matrix, The Dark Knight, LOTR trilogy, and Star Wars.
My Journey
For most of my career, I’ve been a brand filmmaker, producing authentic documentary-style marketing videos.
And until I discovered my calling as a teacher, video was my one true love. Admittedly, I have video buttons tattooed on my wrist, and a camera aperture on my forearm.
I loved meeting new people, discovering their world, learning how they delight their customers, and capturing their authentic value with my camera and drawing out their story in the interview.
But if I can be honest, the early years were quite painful. I kept running into the same issues that I naively assumed were part of the job.
Slowly I understood that while my clients were eager to tell their story, they often didn't know what that was. The process of making their brand film forced them to figure it out.
Unfortunately, we would figure that out together. And that was painful.
Why? Because a creative vendor is the wrong person to lead that process.
Whether it’s a video, website, logo, etc., a creative is an artist who just wants to be paid to make art. Rarely do they ever have a process, or even possess the expertise, to help a business map our their identity or message.
It finally hit me like a gut punch that my clients were trusting me with their success. Something I was just unable to handle at the time. As long as I lacked expertise in storytelling, marketing, influence, (and yes, even sales) I could never truly help them.
My clients deserved a better partner with the right tools and the proper insight. I therefore determined to become what they needed me to be.
That’s where I find myself today, and why I’m so passionate about brand storytelling.
Over the years, I’ve developed (and continue to refine) my proprietary Storytelligent™ system to help my clients discover their unique value, their brand’s core essence, and give them a strategic messaging framework to bring that story to life across their various platforms and media. My goal is to help them craft an authentic integrated marketing story that captures their audience's heart and inspires them to take action.
And yes, for a select few clients, that still means producing authentic brand films.
What is brand storytelling?
Stories are foundational to humanity. We use them to communicate, build relationships, assign meaning & value, and even form our identity. So, as you can gather, storytelling is essential to a successful marketing strategy.
Brand storytelling is the art of communicating your value in a unified, engaging way that builds trust. It’s marketing from a storyteller's lens, covering the process of defining a brand’s story to telling it:
brand strategy, messaging & visual design
content strategy & marketing campaigns
story-driven content pieces
The goal is to make a lasting impression. We want your audience to feel your impact. Because when they feel, they care. And we value what we care about.
That’s when we’ve created the opportunity for value exchange. They’re either going to help you, or you’re going to help them.
That’s business.
